The Core Phonics Survey is a terrific tool for identifying the gaps in a student's literacy learning. It gives excellent instructions on how to administer the survey, even going so far as to provide a script for the instructor. Unfortunately, no instructions are provided about how to interpret the results of the survey. For this reason, many educators reach out to me, asking for advice on this topic. I made the video (below) to share some of the key concepts that I keep in mind when I analyze the Core Phonics Survey results.
